The Depencier House

watercolour_eightnhalfsigned

Erected at around 1886, this house is located in my neighborhood of Mount Pleasant, Vancouver. If you happen to be here, you will notice how much it stands out. Situated next to a new condominium of completely of different style, it looks like a house straight out from a children’s storybook.

It used to be just a residential house, which at some point was raised to accommodate another floor for shops and another den was constructed for the same purpose.

Before Eight and a Half restaurant came along, it was once home to the famous Bain’s Chocolate making shop, a wine tasting shop, a café, a sign shop and even rumored to been a brother in its early days.

Done with watercolor and ink on cold press paper.
